West Australian Calan Williams has left the FIA Formula 3 Championship pre-season test in Barcelona at the top of the timesheets.

With a lap time of 1m 32.518s during the opening hour of the afternoon session, Williams’ time remained undefeated for the rest.

Ayumu Iwasa placed second in the Hitech Grand Prix, 0.470 seconds off absolute pace, while her Australian Jenzer Motorsport teammate Pierre Louis Chovet completed the top three, demonstrating the improved performance of the Swiss team.

Roman Stanek and Caio Collet completed the five, with Jack Doohan 22nd in the session after scoring second in yesterday’s race.

The afternoon session was slower than the morning when Doohan finished third, registering a 1m 31.803s to be 0.167s behind point guard Victor Martens.

Alexander Smolyar split the duo, while title contenders Logan Sargeant and Clement Novalak rounded out the top five.

Williams placed 14th, but just 0.561 off the pace, underlining what should be an incredible close season in Formula 3 FIA.

This wrapped up the pre-season test for FIA Formula 3 ahead of the season opener at the same location on May 7-9, as Doohan and Williams hope to emulate the success of fellow Aussie Oscar Piastri from Last year.
