BUCHAREST, Romania, May 31 (SeeNews) – Most business leaders in Romania expect growth in manufacturing, retailing, construction and services over the next three months, said the ‘National Statistics Office (INS).
Executives of companies operating in the manufacturing industry expect a moderate increase in production volumes, with a positive balance of 13%, over the next three months, the INS said on Friday in a monthly survey of the business climate.
The balance is calculated as the difference between the percentage of respondents who expect positive developments and the percentage of those with negative expectations.
A strong increase is expected in beverage manufacturing, with a positive balance of 45%. Regarding the number of employees, stability is expected, with a balance of 0%, while the prices of industrial products should increase moderately, with a positive balance of 13%.
Demand for services is expected to increase moderately over the next three months, posting a balance of 13%. For the service sector, a moderate increase in the number of employees is expected, with a balance of 10%. According to industry executives surveyed, prices will be slightly higher in the next three months, with the balance here being 7%.
Construction companies expect the production volumes of their activity to grow in the next three months, with a balance of 28%. Executives in the construction sector anticipate moderate growth in the number of employees and a sharp increase in the prices of construction works, with a positive balance of 11% and 31% respectively.
Executives of retail companies expect economic activity to rise in the next three months, with a positive balance of 24%. The volume of orders placed by business units to suppliers of goods will be stable, with a positive balance of 17%. Employers expect the number of employees to grow over the next three months, with a balance of 14%. Managers expect retail prices to rise, with a balance of 29%.
A total of 8,987 managers of Romanian companies in the construction, manufacturing, retail and service sectors were interviewed in the survey.
In April, most business leaders in the Romanian service sector expected their activity to contract over the next three months, while growth was expected in construction, retail and manufacturing.
