Stafford Lions volunteers pick up and log 1,700 hours at the Covid-19 vaccination center

Despite the Covid-19 closures and restrictions, a group of Stafford volunteers have always been successful in supporting their local community with a variety of service activities while following government guidelines.

The Stafford Lions have been busy with their main project being the roll-out of the vaccination program at the North End Community Center in Stafford, Staffordshire.

Members have now completed over 1,700 hours to help guide young and old through the injection process safely, with care and compassion.

However, despite the importance of helping in the fight against Covid-19, the Stafford Lions have found time to continue their perennial activities and recently ended a very successful day helping to tidy up different areas of the city, such as their contribution to the Great British Spring Clean Program in June.

Members helped tidy up the Isabel Trail at Stafford and Milford Common, photo above, while a member who was unable to attend decided to clean up Acton Trussell at a later date.

Another biannual event is their food drive, with the next scheduled for July. It’s now well under way with flyers soon to be distributed and Lions collectors ready and waiting to collect and distribute food packages to the local food bank and other worthy causes.

Stafford Lions are also proud to have donated to the Lions Clubs International Foundation to help support global causes, which recently made a sizable donation to help support causes overseas, such as the pandemic. of Covid-19 in India.

Stafford Lions President Rose Cowley said: “Despite the pandemic restrictions, the Stafford Lions were able to complete all of our normal service activities this year. We had to do things differently, but we are proud that we can still serve our community. “

If you would like to get involved in helping your local community, why not consider joining the group.
