Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen arrives at Fond du Lac on West Johnson Street

LAKE BOTTOM – Do you like that Popeyes chicken? The restaurant franchise will open a new location on West Johnson Street in Fond du Lac later this year.

Construction on the new restaurant will begin “from mid-July to the end of July” at the old LoanMax Title Loans building, 832 W. Johnson St., according to Brian Smith, president of SmitCo. Eateries, which owns Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. The restaurant is scheduled to open on October 14.

Popeyes was founded in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has since become internationally known for its chicken, as evidenced by its slogan “Love that Chicken from Popeyes”. Other staples on the menu include buttermilk cookies, mashed potatoes, green beans, and Cajun fries, depending on its website.

Through the Popeyes Foundation, the company also makes donations to “hunger relief” efforts in the United States and helps employees and their families in times of need, according to its. website.

“We look forward to serving our delicious product to the community,” Smith said in a comment to USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin on Tuesday.
