The epic period action movie Ponniyin Selvan or PS1 is off to a stellar start at the global box office. It’s now heading for a prodigious opening weekend given the film’s excellent advance bookings.
Ponniyin Selvan revolves around the Chola Empire and is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1995 novel of the same name which has a cult following and is considered one of the greatest historical fictions.
The film is made up of two parts, the first part of the film has been released in cinemas around the world in multiple languages and the second part will be released next year.

Ticket office of Ponniyin Selvan (PS1)
The magnum opus had a fantastic opening day at the worldwide box office. It took a boot of over Rs 25 crore at the box office in the domestic (Tamil Nadu) market. It is estimated to have grossed Rs 2 crores in the Hindi version to become the highest grossing since the 2.0 release of a Tamil film in the Hindi belt.
The film also becomes Australia’s biggest ever opening for a Tamil film. It broke the Master’s Day 1 record of AU$283,000 by hitting AU$427,000. Not only that, along with India, he debuted at No. 1 in the UAE, GCC, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore.
PS1 Early Booking Report Day 2
PS1 had a fantastic lead for Day 1, and the trend is flat on Day 2 as well. It collected over Rs 15 crore from advance ticket sales for day 2. It collected most Rs 13.23 crore in the Tamil version, followed by Telugu Rs 1.27 Cr, Hindi Rs 57 Lakhs and Malayalam Rs 25 Lakhs.

Box Office Collection Day 2
Now, following the advanced trends, it will add another 20 crore to its cash registers, to bring the total day 2 collections to over 45 crore gross in TN. It also does very well at the box office in Telugu. The profit target for the movie is set at Rs 10.50 crores there and it is expected to emerge as a clean hit within the first week itself. Speaking of the Hindi box office, it will fetch Rs 2-2.5 crore on the second day to bring the total Hindi collections to around 5 crore nett, according to early estimates.
