To celebrate World Oceans Day, Parley for the Oceans unveiled Clean waves, a new collection of luxury eyewear created from marine plastic debris and salvaged fishing nets. The Clean Waves line includes a basic “Archetype” model in 14 variations and an exclusive capsule collection of modular sunglasses by artist Maya Arulpragasam (MIA).
“Clean Waves is a new luxury brand idea, a creative fundraising platform where artists, designers, activists and materials scientists unleash their skills to lead the material revolution alongside the protection of islands and oceans,” said commented Cyrill Gutsch, Founder and CEO of Speaking for the Oceans. “Each Clean Waves collection is designed to spark a future of creativity, collaboration and eco-innovation – with the goal of creating a world where humans live in peace with nature’s ecosystems.”
Photographers Inez & Vinoodh shot the launch campaign and accompanying film with MIA to promote the new collection, which is available exclusively online, at Selfridges in London and in select Dover Street Market stores around the world. 100% of the net proceeds from Clean Waves sales will support the expansion of cleaning, education and infrastructure projects on the remote islands of Parley.
