Gauhati University NSS Cell & PGSU Celebrated Gandhi Jayanti & PLOG RUN

Guwahati: Gauhati University NSS Cell and Post Graduate Students Union, GU celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on the university campus on October 2, followed by the launch of the ministry’s “CLEAN INDIA” program from October 1 to 31, 2021 with a motto “Let’s come together and let’s be part of the story in the making ”Join Hands Together for Clean India. Paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti while inaugurating the program Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director, Student Welfare & Program Coordinator, NSS, GU said that every citizen has the responsibility to make their respective places clean and hygienic.

According to the management of the Ministry of Youth, Govt. from India, Dr Kakati urged all SNRS volunteers and GU NSS cell program managers to take the necessary steps for waste collection & disposal – through collection and door to door campaigns, campaigns for historic monuments and heritage sites, community centers, youth clubs, school buildings, etc. to meet that the student community has a major role to play in making our mother India clean by making our institutions, our campus and our community clean. NSS volunteers and the GU student community participated in PLOG RUN and collected a large amount of trash and plastic waste. Approximately 150 participants participated in the program comprising NSS program managers, NSS volunteers from different colleges, members of PGSU & GU campus student community.
