The content creator founded a beauty company at just 21, and it’s all dedicated to her grandmother.
Online superstar Amanda Pavillard’s new clean beauty company, Radiate by Amanda, is imbued by her beloved grandmother. Not only is 1% of all sales donated to charity, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, in the name of her grandmother who suffers from the disease, but her grandmother was actually the original beauty influencer that the 21-year-old woman admired.
One of Pavillard’s fondest memories is of sitting next to her grandmother’s vanity mirror as she prepared for Sunday service. An experience which today is the genesis of her passion for beauty and its possibilities. However, Pavillard’s road to doing what she loves hasn’t always been as easy as childhood optimism might imagine. After being diagnosed with OCD, Pavillard turned the notoriously difficult times that accompanied the global pandemic into an opportunity with which to channel the struggles she faced into something positive.
Enter the beauty line, Radiate by Amanda. With the cosmetics line’s Volume 1 collection already sold out, Pavillard is determined to continue to make her customers feel nourished and beautiful, while giving back to a cause close to her heart.

Hi Amanda, hope you are doing well! How has the last year been?
Hello thank you very much. I’m so looking forward to chatting, hope you’re doing well too. The past year has been crazy for sure. So many exciting things have happened, including the launch of Radiate By Amanda, my new makeup company. It’s something I’ve been working on for a few years now, so seeing it finally come to life has been surreal. This year has really been about chasing my dreams, which has been really exciting and I can’t wait to continue.
The pandemic has affected everyone, how has it affected your creativity?
The pandemic has been a tough few years for all of us, I think. As for how it affected my creativity, it definitely came in waves. There have been times during the pandemic where I’ve felt like I’m almost more creative than maybe I normally would have been because of all the time we’ve had to sit with our own thoughts. . On the other hand, there were also times during the pandemic, where I think for all of us, the world was in such a state of chaos and uncertainty, that I couldn’t at all bring myself to be very creative. It’s been a tough journey, but the pandemic is where Radiate By Amanda came to fruition and I’m certainly grateful for that.
And in terms of your own journey, how did you discover beauty?
From an early age, I have always been very interested in beauty and makeup. I grew up as a competitive dancer and it definitely sparked a love for crazy makeup in me. Throughout middle school and high school, I spent my time watching YouTube makeup videos and doing makeup for my friends for school dances and the like. When I started my YouTube channel, sharing my makeup tips and thoughts came naturally to me, as I’ve always been very interested in it. My mother, grandmother, and older sisters have also been huge influences in this area for me, as beauty has always been an important topic that we bond over.
You have grown your fan base very quickly, do you feel any pressure?
When something really matters to you, I think you’re always going to feel some level of pressure. I care a lot about the people who follow me and it’s important for me to give them something in everything I do. I definitely feel pressure to keep growing as a person and posting better and better content. There were times when it was overwhelming, but I’m very lucky and very grateful to have an amazing support system behind me. I do my best not to see the pressure as a negative thing, but as something that continues to motivate me.
As a 21-year-old entrepreneur, have you faced any challenges?
Starting a Business At any age, you are going to face challenges. The biggest challenges I’ve faced so far have been doing this for the first time. There’s a lot to learn when starting a business, especially in the beauty industry. I don’t think a lot of people realize how hard it really is to create a single makeup product. There are a lot of technical details and terminology that are important to understand in order to get what you want out of a product. This has definitely been one of the biggest learning curves/challenges for me.
You talk very openly about mental health, why is it so important to you?
Mental health issues are something everyone faces at some point in their lives. I think with social media people try to make everything look so perfect all the time. This is why it’s so important to me to be open about my journey with mental health. The less lonely people feel and the more educated they are about mental health, I think the better off our world will be. I never want people to feel lonely or misunderstood and will always do my best to share as much as possible if it helps even one person.
Tell us about what goes into creating a clean beauty line? What are the main differences between this and a standard?
The FDA doesn’t have a specific definition of what “clean beauty” means or qualifies, so technically speaking, it’s hard to describe what these differences are from company to company. At Radiate By Amanda, clean beauty means to us that we are vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free and gluten-free. All of our products are made with the best ingredients and are supposed to be really good for your skin. It may be more expensive to create “clean” products, but it is 100% worth it to deliver the best of the best to our customers.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a charity to which you donate part of the profits, why this charity?
Living Beyond Breast Cancer is an amazing non-profit organization that supports women and families battling breast cancer. It is extremely near and dear to my heart because my favorite person in the world, my grandmother Inez, has been battling breast cancer for four years. It was incredibly difficult and I hope most people never have to witness it. She has been so strong and is a huge inspiration to me in everything I do. I chose Living Beyond Breast Cancer in her honor and am so grateful that we were able to give back to other women and families dealing with the same terrible diagnosis.
What’s next for you? What excites you the most?
There are a lot of things ahead of me that I’m very excited about. I focus a lot on acting and auditioning which is another big passion for me. The biggest goal I have right now is Radiate By Amanda and we definitely have more drops and collections to come. We’ve been working really hard and I can’t wait to get everything in place and people to be able to use more of our products! I’m excited to continue to grow an intentional beauty business that shares important messages and high quality products with the people who support and follow me!
