UK Black Pride safety at our festival” />

UK Black Pride will be held on Sunday 8 July at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, London

Award-winning UK Black Pride – Europe’s largest not-for-profit event for African, Arab, Asian, and Caribbean-heritage LGBT+ people – takes seriously its duty to put in place any measures that can enhance the safety and security of our community who will be attending the annual UK Black Pride festival on 8 July 2018. Following a consultation from last year’s event, we would like to share the following advice to ensure a safe and enjoyable UK Black Pride.

Moud Goba, UK Black Pride’s Director of Community Engagement, said: ‘“We fully expect to have another safe, secure, and happy UK Black Pride event this year. This has involved cooperating with the police to ensure we meet our primary responsibility, which is to provide a safe space for our community. The security measures will reassure our guests that UK Black Pride is taking place in a safe and secure venue. It will also allow our guests to focus on celebrating all the good reasons why we will be gathering.”

We have been working closely with the council and Met Police to ensure the safety of our community and there are no safety warnings in place for Sunday. On the day there will be bag checks at each entry point to remove any item that could endanger festival goers. Please take note of the following:

– No glass bottles: these will be confiscated by security.

– No portable BBQs allowed: for health and safety reasons please do not bring portable BBQs. You are welcome to bring a picnic or try one of our wonderful food stalls on the day.

– Do not bring portable speakers: following on from visitor feedback from last year, plus we have all the entertainment that you need!

– Stay hydrated: finally, with temperatures expecting to reach up to 30 degrees on the day, we would also like to remind you to stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids and have sun protection.
